Working Conditions in Lithuania
Permits
- Lithuania is a member of European Union and NATO. No special working permits required.
- Film production permits are issued by municipal authorities and other local administrative bodies.
- Filming permits will be arranged by Lithuanian co-producer or production service company.
Tax incentive
- Since 2019 Lithuanian Film Tax Incentive offers an opportunity to save up to 30% of the film production budget.
- The scheme is available for fiction films, TV dramas, documentaries, animated films.
- Eligibility: minimum of 3 days of shooting in Lithuania, the total amount of eligible spend in Lithuania has to be no less than 43 000 Eur.
- At least 80% of eligible film production costs must be incurred in Lithuania.
- Film needs to pass a cultural content criteria.
- 20% of the total Lithuanian budget can be spent abroad.
Working Hours
- 5 days week (if needed can be a 6-day week or even a 7th day week)
- 6th day = rate x 1,5
- 7th day = rate x 2
- Sunday is officially a day off, but if needed, it is possible to work on Sunday and give another day off. The 7th day is charged with double rate.
- 12 hours shooting day (11 hours + 1 hour lunch)
- Continuous day is 10 hours with running lunch
- Lunch break is not later than 6 hours after the crew call
- Minimal turnaround time is 11 hours
- If shooting is taking place outside (50 km) of the residential area travel time accounts as work time
- No extra charge for night shoots
Overtime
- Overtime rate is x 1,5 (sometimes x2 depending on department) of the hourly rate. Hourly rate is daily rate devided by 11.
- Specific tules are applying for light, grip, SFX departments.
- Overtime rate after 15 hours might be charged x2 of the hourly rate.
Rates
- There are no unions in Lithuania. Film crew rates are not regulated by the government and are the subject of negotiation.There are exceptions with lightening and camera departments. Them rates are fixed.
- Sample rates for cast, extras, crew and transportation, updated for 2025.
- Lithuanian currency is Euro.
- Social security taxes and other fringes are included into the rates
- Sense of humor is part of the requirements for a local crew.
Allowances
- When shooting is outside of residential area, production has to provide transportation or cover the appropriate fuel cost.
- When shooting is on distant location and the crew is accommodated, full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner) should be provided or per diems have to be paid for the working day.
Catering
- Catering is including breakfast, snacks between breakfast and lunch, lunch and snacks between lunch and wrap. Tea, coffee, drinks, snacks all day long. Good quality food and service included would cost 22 -28 Euros per head

- Sound stage is located 8 minutes from Vilnius airport.
