What the Juniors Say About It

Production Value reduces the distances between different professional experiences, and expands irreversibly the horizon of those involved in production in any European country. Everything you are used to looking through the keyhole to understand the secrets and practices of bigger and more complex productions than those you are used, in Production Value suddenly becomes accessible, shared, subject of study and of lovely chats with Seniors who love to share their job and their way to work.

After the workshop, the question was no longer IF a project can be done but HOW we should approach it. The tools remain of course the same: scheduling, budgeting and brainstorming. What differs is the general idea in the back of everyone’s head having participated in the workshop: the solution to do the movie IS out there, you just have to look hard for it. But it might generate some work hours to get there…

Daniel Chilla – Junior Assistant Director – Sweden
I have been to a lot of workshops, development programs and so on, but Production Value outperforms all of them. To be able to dig into an extremely complex script, a live project that has a demanding receiver (producer and director) and be able to do this with very experienced mentors as support is very unique. The mix of learning and delivering in a positive but very demanding environment is very rare.

Iiris Juutilainen – Junior Assistant Director – Finland
It has become very clear to me it was a step to the right direction and has given me more confidence and skills than I (or anyone else) realized. Suddenly I do understand making films outside Finland will be possible for me and there is no limit when I just keep on going. I never really thought about this so far but now it feels making my first international co-production in the AD department could be just around the corner.

It’s a must-do workshop to every Line Producer or 1ST AD because it plants the new way of thinking right into your head and there is no way of going back afterwards. Production Value is an incredible place to meet top film professionals from all over the world, work on the big scale productions you have never been working before and meet people who become your friends.

PV15 René Bosman

René Bosman – Junior Assistant Director – Germany
After this week, I have a different state of mind towards my work: as if my AD-backbone had been in a workout! I have crossed a mental border: a bit like throwing a stone in the water and watch the (mental) ripples flow and grow....

Over the duration of the workshop, I always had the feeling of being part of a team rather than just a participant. As far as I am concerned, the value of this experience went well beyond simply learning new tools and better budgeting: it allowed me to deeper understand how to deal with actual scenarios and provided me with the priceless opportunity to be involved with a group of like-minded young professionals.

I am very happy that we were presented with a project at a rather early stage of the script. In this matter, I truly hope that we delivered a package that gives the producers a very useful tool in further development and financing of their project. Rather than having to deal with the limitations, or even frustrations, of a much-evolved script, we were able to think ahead and try to look for solutions to make things work.

At some point, somebody said during the presentation of results that Production Value was the best kept secret in Europe. Well, it is indeed.

PV15 Magnus Ramsdalen

For me personally, the most important thing I take away from Production Value is the boost of confidence and the awe-inspiring people I met.

Within the Production Value workshop, we really tried to turn a problem into a solution. Of course, I also realized that some solutions can only be thought of after some certain years of experience, which our seniors had, but it also brought me to the conclusion that the more you share your questions around you, the more you can get feedback and ideas which might sound crazy at the beginning, but turn actually more sound than the original idea you had to cope with.
