Working Hours & Rates

The regular employment workweek consists of 40 hours per week (8 hours per day from Monday to Friday).

In most cases, working hours for films are negotiated for 12-hour working day, door-to-door. Each work hour over and above the 40 weekly hours will be considered overtime and it is subject to a 60% additional increment.

Any night work from 10.00 p.m. through 06.00 a.m. in the morning is subject to a 75% increment of the daily wage. Also, if the Technician works on Sunday or any other lawful or customary holiday, s/he is entitled to a wage increase of 75%.

Working hours are continuous with a one-hour mandatory break for lunch and rest during filming. Exceptionally a 2-hour break is possible in the event of special circumstances.

The work schedule starts from the moment of arrival at the starting location and ends upon return to the same location. The new workday (turnaround) cannot commence earlier than 11 hours after the end of the previous day.

There is no collective agreement with the technicians in Greece yet, it is currently being negotiated. The attached document shows approximate rates for the following cases:

Allowances

Traveling Expenses: the producer is under the obligation to cover travelling expenses to the employment site: (a) when the work provided away from the usual place of employment and (b) if the usual place of employment is at a distance of more than 30 kilometers from Syntagma Square (center of Athens).

Per Diem & Meals: the producer is under the obligation to provide the Technicians with one meal a day in addition to the agreed compensation. In the event of employment requiring an overnight stay, the producer is under the obligation to insure decent lodging, breakfast and two meals per day. Actor's Rates

The matter is decided at the time of casting. A new agreement is being sought by the Actors Union. There are no specific rate for extras.
