Creative Producer Indaba is a development programme offered by the Realness Institute, in partnership with EAVE, International Film Festival Rotterdam’s IFFR Pro and the Marrakech International Film Festival’s Atlas Workshop.
The aim of the programme is to bring together producers who want to develop an African film project and build their skills together. During the workshop, they will learn how to improve their entrepreneurial and leadership skills, develop their creative abilities, and build a lasting and meaningful network. The programme is aimed at 15 film producers and film professionals:
- Five creative producers from Africa with audiovisual projects in development
- Five international producers without projects
- Five African film professionals from international sales, funding, festivals, markets, or an institutional background interested in working across continents
All producers applying must have produced at least one feature film, one series or one documentary film or two short films as main producer or co-producer. Film professionals should possess a minimum of four years of professional experience.
Due to FOCAL’s partnership, one Swiss producer can participate free of charge.
The programme includes plenary sessions and group work, case studies and access to individual meetings with mentors and guest experts. The workshop covers project development, project planning, funding, legal issues, promotion and marketing, advocacy and lobbying, organisational development, network management and leadership.
The programme is structured in three modules over six months, combining in-person with online sessions:
- Workshop 1 starts with an online session end of October. followed by in-person sessions at the Festival International du Film de Marrakech, 1.-5. December 2024.
- Workshop 2 will take place in the Netherlands during the International Film Festival Rotterdam, 25 to 31 January 2025.
- The workshops are followed by a final online sessions in April 2025.
