An encounter with Peter Mettler

For the past 25 years, Canadian-Swiss filmmaker Peter Mettler has pursued his own distinctive artistic agenda. The seminar offers indepth study of his approach and philosophy and a personal encounter with someone in whose life and work Switzerland plays a special role. The main focus of the seminar will be the films PICTURE OF LIGHT (1994) and GAMBLING, GODS AND LSD (2002). Peter Mettler will discuss the creative process involved in doing the research, the shooting and the editing of his films: intuition and strategy, improvisation and composition, chaos and meaning. He will also talk about how image, sound, music and narrative structure interrelate. Finally, in a live performance, he will give insight into his current project.
