"I regularly work within the European ‹auteur› and the American ‹studio› traditions. In my view, both traditions have reached an impasse." Slawomir Idziak
Film Spring is not like any other workshop. Film Spring is an innovative creative process. Film Spring takes a unique approach. Under the mentorship of the internationally acclaimed Polish cinematographer Slawomir Idziak, Film Spring provides an opportunity to explore, in a collective process, new ways of filmmaking. Participants will be challenged by Slawomir Idziak's understanding of filmmaking, both on theoretical and practical levels. Prior to the workshop, participants will be asked to co-write the script in a specially created internet forum. The shooting of the 30- to 45-minute film will be done in Poland, over a 20-day period. The rule of the game is for every participant to change roles for every scene. The technical and artistic proceedings (set decoration, costumes, props, equipment) are to be organised by the participants themselves. The promoter is expected to take care of the logistics. Postproduction as well is to be carried out collectively before the film is proposed for screenings.

Film Spring has changed the life of many young filmmakers. Join the adventure!
"It was a really timeless experience working with Slawomir. His approach to pedagogy represents the ultimate combination of philosophy and practice (...).I have never been so moved by a filmmaker's humility and it is a rare gift that a cinematographer of his status gives his time so generously to relatively unknown filmmakers" Director, Wuppertal
"I don't think there was a day where I didn't learn anything about myself as a person/artist...The stories, the knowledge of Slawomir and his approachability made the experience unforgettable (...). A fantastic experience I will not soon forget." Cameraman, Johannesberg
"Film Spring has exceeded all my expectations. It was truly a condensed and rich experience on both professional and personal level. It was not just an experiment or a common seminar. It was much more - and therefore also requested a greater preparation, more work and lots of commitment. But it was worth all the time spent on it and still is." Director, Basel
