Within the Zürcher Filmtalk - Die Socialising- und Networking-Plattform der Zürcher Filmszene

Helen Jacey will explore some of the questions concerning positive female character representation. Although we now have more female characters on our screens, why do so many female screenwriters find it difficult to get their female-led stories into production? Why do female characters in male-protagonist-driven films appear to fit into such narrow slots? What do we expect of female protagonists anyway? Depending on which hat we don - writer, director, producer, actress, distributor - are our agendas at odds with each other when it comes to the «great female character» and, if so, in what way(s)?

A lively and provocative talk promising to raise issues and promote awareness for all filmmakers.
