MEDICI — The Film Funding Journey

This discussion and exchange forum – dedicated to European and, since 2015, non-European public film funders at supranational, national and regional levels – started in 2012 on the initiative of the MEDIA programme. It consists in one yearly workshop (except in 2012; two workshops), each one of them dealing with different topics related to the role of the film funds and to the project financing in different phases from the point of view of public funders.
Based on peer-to-peer exchanges, MEDICI proposes
- to share best practice and creative policy-making in public film funding: comparative approaches, alternative methods and evaluation techniques, film business models, funding mechanisms in the context of new formats, etc.
- to enhance cooperation and communication among film funders who actively defend European films and strive for their improvement.
This is the archive of the first nine editions of the programme 'Medici — The Film Funding Journey' that took place between 2012 and 2019.
MEDICI was proposed by FOCAL and co-funded by the Federal Office of Culture/MEDIA Desk Suisse.
