Medici will be back in 2021 -> MEDICI 2021.
MEDICI is a training cycle for European public film funders that started in 2012. It offers a discussion and exchange forum – exclusively for public film funders at supranational, national and regional levels. Each of the workshops deals with various issues related to the role of the funds and project financing (from the perspective of a public funder). MEDICI is a unique networking opportunity among peers – as it is set outside formal protocols or the stress of festivals.
The 2020 MEDICI edition
Set up only a few weeks after the cautious return from the global shutdown, MEDICI will take professionals on a journey of revisiting the essence of public support mechanisms. We will talk about redesigning the core mission of film funds and highlight the challenges throughout the whole value chain, that are imposed by a new reality.
Collectively, yet respecting the diversity of participants and their production specifics, the workshop will welcome professionals in the spirit of real cooperation: respecting existing structures, avoiding seniority, sharing knowledge and being open to dismantling the aspects that are not suitable for a healthy ecosystem of the AV sector.
MEDICI 2020 will provide a safe atmosphere for those willing to be informed, updated and challenged on the vital mission of a film fund nowadays. The workshop will describe the most pressing issues that the independent audiovisual industry is facing.
Set as 10th anniversary edition, the MEDICI 2020 workshop will focus on providing an informal and open-minded atmosphere. The MEDICI 2020 edition will offer a combination of keynote contributions, topical presentations, and interview-format exchanges with selected experts who have unique knowledge on specific topics across the film value chain. Co-hosted by Tamara Tatishvili (MEDICI Head of Training) and Petri Kemppinen (MEDICI Moderator), the workshop will be run interactively, allowing open discussions and free-flow exchange.
Dialogue and peer-to-peer exchange are at the core of the workshop. Experts of the European film industry will offer their insights, and each topic will be discussed with all participants. The moderation will allow enough time for an exchange of opinions and discovery.
