Pitch
Interdisciplinary Film Workshop: from screenplay to shooting
In a film workshop of almost three weeks, a group of young filmmakers - professional film directors, cameramen and sound operators - will make a 45-minute (video) film under the direction of famous Polish cameraman and filmmaker Slawomir Idziak, based on a joint screenplay previously developed in an Internet forum which is especially set up for that purpose. Only prerequisite: it must be a (melodramatic) love story with two main characters of different cultural backgrounds and nationalities in a new Europe.

The two main (German speaking) characters will be cast during preparative work. (Polish) supporting actors, if needed, will be recruited locally. Parallel to shooting, initial editing will be performed by the participants themselves (Final Cut Pro). ARRI, Munich, will be in charge of professional post production.

Date and venue
7 - 26 October 2005 (including journey to and from venue), on Hella peninsula at the Polish Baltic Sea coast
Selection of participants: mid-June 2005
Joint screenplay work on the Internet: as of mid-June 2005
Casting via Internet: August/September 2005
Preparatory meeting (in Zurich): 10 September 2005

Speaker
Slawomir Idziak

For several years, famous cameraman (TROIS COULEURS: BLEU, I WANT YOU, BLACK HAWK DOWN, KING ARTHUR) and film director Slawomir Idziak has given a special seminar called ‹Camera - dramaturgy - decoupage›, in which selected scenes taken from his last film are analysed. He always succeeds in initiating, guiding and successfully concluding a highly professional, creative process within respective groups. Film Spring represents the continuation of this idea and experience.
