Want to supercharge your writing? Create more exciting characters? Overcome plot problems quickly? Get rid of writer's blocks in minutes? The ‹Impro for Writers› workshop will show you how to do all that and more. This day is all about learning by doing. Improvisation involves creating characters, situations, and even whole scenes on the spot. When we improvise, we bypass our left brain - there's no time to deliberate, plan, or analyze what we will say and do. Yet when improvisation works well, it can have stunning results. In this one day workshop, we will explore how you can take advantage of this technique for any kind of writing. We'll be working in a small group, generating ideas, acting them out, seeing what works and what doesn't and why. All participants will be writers, so the atmosphere will be friendly and informal. Plus all the exercises are ones you'll be able to use when you get back to your writing desk.
Tutor
Jurgen Wolff
studied impro with ‹The Groundlings› in Los Angeles and Keith Johnstone in London. He has written more than 100 TV episodes (including RELIC HUNTER, BENSON, FAMILY TIES, NORMAN NORMAL), several TV movies, two miniseries (including MIDNIGHT MAN with Rob Lowe), the feature film THE REAL HOWARD SPITZ (starring Kelsey Gramer), plays, and nine books - and he has found impro techniques useful in every aspect of writing (and also in marketing his writing). His latest book, ‹Creativity Now!› shows how to overcome blocks, be more creative, and turn ideas into action.
