In this 2-day workshop, the participants will learn how to develop a project in a creative and analytical way, to think through structure in sequences and to evaluate the characters, the rhythm, the tension, the conflicts and climax, the dialogues and subtexts, the genre, the importance of both the theme and the note of intention - in short, how to analyse a script and use development tools to strengthen the understanding of narrative principles.
The first day, there will be a morning lecture on development strategies, followed by the screening of a film which the tutor will analyse sequence by sequence. Next, the participants with projects will pitch their story to the group, and then pair up. On the second day, the participants will present their analysis of each other's story synopsis and note of intention, with the use of analytical tools. Participants without a project can use their favourite film or any other film of their choice and analyse it on the basis of what was learned on Day 1.
