Pitch
Project development in a creative pre-production process.
EKRAN is an international training program focusing on the creative pre-production process, as based on shooting practice. Group and individual work will be supervised by highly professional filmmakers.

Session 1:
After presentation of the EKRAN program, a script (or treatment) module and each participating project's pitch, the crucial element of this session will be the production of 3 to 4 minute scenes, drawn from the participants' scripts or from selected classics. Special emphasis will be granted to working with actors and building up the characters as well as to the visualisation of the story, light and rhythm.

Session 2:
This session will be devoted to developing a more advanced version of the script and to seeking visualisation strategies in order to ensure a truly personal tone. Scenes from the participants' projects, with two or three actors, will be produced; also, seminars with the below mentioned masters will be held on the following subjects: light in a film, preparation of a storyboard, analysis of the world's best film scenes, the art of painting, the creative personality of an author and the relationship between biography and fiction.

Session 3:
For purposes of producing a scene from its script, each team is allowed to invite a director of photography and two actors from its native country. The pre-production of the scenes includes: directing strategies, choice of the location, props and light, and set design. The session will end with the screening and discussion of the scenes produced.

Between sessions, the participants are expected to work on their treatments and scripts.

Participants and selection
12 teams, each consisting of a director (or writer/director), a writer (or co-writer), a producer and (optionally) a director of photography. Two Swiss teams can participate. The selected candidates will be interviewed at the beginning of January 2006 by Wojciech Marczewski, project Mentor and responsible of the final selection of 12 participant teams.
