10th International Film Music Competition

The Zurich Film Festival and the Tonhalle-Gesellschaft Zürich AG collaborate once again this year with the Forum Filmmusik to present the 10th International Film Music Competition. Participants are required to score the award-winning short film THE FOUNDLING by Barney Cokeliss.

Composers from around the world who have not scored or orchestrated more than three films with a duration of more than 60 minutes are eligible to enter the competition.

A jury of internationally renowned music professionals and filmmakers will nominate three works from the competition entries. These three winning compositions will be premiered at the Tonhalle Zürich during the Zurich Film Festival on September 29, 2022 by the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich under the musical direction of Frank Strobel and in the presence of the nominees. The jury will select the winner, who will receive the Golden Eye for “Best International Film Music 2022”, an award endowed with a 10’000 Swiss franc cash prize.

Registration will be possible starting April 11, 2022. Early-bird ends on May 2, 2022.

The submission deadline is on June 6, 2022.

XVIII Lau Haizetara Documentary Co-production Forum

 The XVIII Lau Haizetara Documentary Co-production Forum will take place on 19, 20 and 21 September 2022 within the framework of the 70th San Sebastian International Film Festival. This forum is organised by IBAIA (Association of Independent Audiovisual Producers of the Basque Country) in collaboration with the San Sebastian Film Festival.

From among the total number of registered projects, fourteen will be selected to be presented before potential funders and experts from the audiovisual and cinema sectors. They will also hold one-on-one meetings with them. In addition, they will have the chance to compete for the IBAIA prize, with 5,000 euros for the winning producer.

Until June 27 documentary producers interested in participating will be able to register through the forum’s website.

Call for Entry 2022

With over 17 500 visitors, Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur is Switzerlands' major short film festival. 650 accredited guests make it a popular meeting point for short film professionals from all over the world. Under certain conditions, films from Kurzfilmtage competitions qualify for nomination consideration for the Oscar®, the BAFTA Award, the European Film Award (candidacy), and the Swiss Film Award. Short films of all genres completed in 2021 or 2022 are eligible; running times must not exceed 30 minutes for the International Competition and 40 minutes for the Swiss Competition.

The application deadline is 17 July 2022.
